RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
Summer Research: Geophysics, University of Science and Technology of China, 04/07/2009-25/08/2009 (research adviser: Dr. Ni, Sidao).
Monitoring Landslide with Seismic Waveforms
Using seismic signals generated by large landslide to reconstruct the magnitude of landslide, we found the magnitude of the single force reconstructed by our model differs from the airborne observation by 4 times. Attempts to garner better results by applying mechanisms which was proposed of good compatibility (Mario La Rocca, 1993, and Emily E. Brodsky, 2003) failed, either. The lack of real geographic data of the landslide area hinders further precision of the estimation.

Undergraduate Research: Department of physics, National Tsing Hua University, 03/2011-03/2012 (research adviser: Dr. Hong,Tzay-ming).
Further study of Burridge-Knopoff (BK) Model on velocity weakening friction
Empirical Gutenberg-Richter’s law of earthquake size distribution is well-recreated by deterministic BK model. Also, observation of the numerical simulation results indicated that BK model captures some other earthquake features. The chaotic behavior of BK model results from the only non-linear factor, velocity weakening friction.
We conducted in-lab experiments to find realistic frictional law of faults. By applying more realistic frictional law and adding model features, we tried to improve BK model to make more realistic prediction on earthquake.
